(AFG) RTCH/Crane Operator


POSITION SUMMARY:


Various LOGCAP positions in Afghanistan. Under the supervision of the applicable PWS functional area Lead or Supervisor, licensed and experienced to perform the full range of duties required to operate/drive a RTCH and/or Crane (minimum 40 ton), MHE, and other military and civilian lifting equipment on designated missions. Employee must be willing and able to train OCNs to operate in a safe manner.


MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 1. Performs PMCS on designated vehicles IAW current SOP or as instructed. Crane operator must understand and fill out Crane Daily inspection document. Conduct Wire Rope Monthly Inspections. Complete lift checklist.


2. Loads/helps load cargo such as containers (20 and 40 ft), vehicles, crates, pallets, boxes etc. in a safe and secure manner.


3. Performs minor repairs on section vehicles to include, adding POL products, etc. as needed.


4. Assists other operators in similar duties as specified by Transportation Specialist Leads and Transportation Supervisor.


5. Responsible for the safe operation of a RTCH or safe movement of Crane and proper rigging of items to be lifted.


6. Reports problems/discrepancies with RTCH or Crane to Transportation Specialist Leads and/or the Transportation Supervisor for resolution.


7. Maintains proper dispatch of equipment being operated IAW Transportation Operations SOP and current regulations.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:


General Office Equipment, RTCH and/or Crane (40T minimum) as required per site equipment density.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:


Applicants should be aware that this position involves possible travel to a potentially dangerous environment. Applicant must be able to meet strict physical fitness requirements defined by the Government Program Office and will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE-ex: Kevlar helmet, body armor, etc).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.


High School graduate or equivalent.


Must have a valid driver’s license


Must have all required licensure and certification for RTCH and/or Crane Operations and be able to maintain Crane certification.


The following training programs are pre-approved for Crane Certification:


North American Crane Bureau


National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators NCCCO)


National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)


Experience:


Two years’ experience in RTCH or Crane operations required, military experience preferred.
